Chasing Wildlife Through Dark Forests and Remote Lands
Vast underground caves hold some of the Earth’s most primitive and unique landforms. Many explorers head into the dark depths to view these subterranean sights.
Zoltán Nagy is a Hungarian civil engineer and experienced caver. He has explored a wide range of complex caves, from small local caverns to challenging cave systems across borders. During his numerous field trips, he came across Fenix gear, which has greatly changed his caving experience.

I work as a civil engineer, and caving is my greatest passion in spare time.
I first got to know Fenix several years ago, when I began to explore the fascinating world of caves. Among the caving community, only a few brands earn widespread trust, and Fenix is always highly recommended by fellow enthusiasts. You could call it a chance encounter—or maybe love at first sight.
I started out with a basic headlamp of just a few hundred lumens. It had simple functions, yet it served me well. The caves near my home are generally small with narrow, winding passages, and this compact lamp fitted my needs perfectly. It soon became my regular gear and worked reliably on all my short caving trips.
As I gained more experience, I set out to explore larger and more difficult cave systems in neighbouring countries with my friends. Gradually, I found my old headlamp could no longer keep up. I still remember descending the 100-metre shaft in Debeljak Cave, Slovenia. The light only reached the area right around me. The huge cave was shrouded in darkness, and I failed to see its full scale and grandeur.
Then I saw something that changed everything.
One of my fellow cavers appeared at the top of the shaft wearing a Fenix HP30R. As he arrived, the entire chamber seemed to light up. It was a real eye-opening moment, and I have to admit—I was instantly jealous.

Shortly after I got back home, I bought one for myself. Since then, it has been my constant companion on every caving trip.
Admittedly, it weighs a little more than some lightweight models, but its outstanding performance makes it well worth it. Boasting 2000 lumens, it easily lights up spacious caverns and steep deep shafts. Powered by a large battery pack, it can run for up to 30 hours on a single charge.
We go on multi-day underground expeditions several times a year, and the HP30R can last through the whole journey. I do not treat my gear with extra care, yet I have rarely needed to replace its battery. It is remarkably durable.

Standing inside a huge cave, I can light up every corner and observe striking stalactites, rock textures and hidden natural features. The lamp acts like a personal spotlight, revealing countless wonders of the underground world.

To me, a headlamp is far more than just a tool. Deep underground, it helps you sense your surroundings, keeps you safe, and gives you confidence to explore places that few people have ever visited.

I would like to thank Fenix for creating such a reliable product. This headlamp has joined me on countless memorable caving adventures, performing steadily in all kinds of tough conditions and never letting me down.
