Marque Baldwin is back at Fenix Store headquarters, this time with a shiny new medal for completing the Michigan 70.3 Ironman. Marque competed in the 50-54 age group division, which consisted of a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike, and 13.1-mile run. Even though Marque sustained an injury in the lower quadriceps of his right leg, he still finished 103rd out of 160 in his age group.
Marque mentions: "While competing in the Ironman Series, it is apparent that it's a humbling experience. Ironman is a competition against yourself and one's natural inclination to give up."
What Fenix Flashlights did Marque use to train?
● FFenix HM65R-T : Designed for running… the HM65R-T was perfect for Marque on his longer distance expeditions. Weatherproof and sweatproof, this headlamp was crucial during longer runs and bike rides. His favorite aspect was the light weight and the flood feature for larger areas of illumination when training in remote areas.
● FFenix E-Lite : Lightweight and long-lasting, the E-Lite is the perfect light for training in low light conditions. Marque clipped it on the back or front of his shirt to remain visible to traffic while training in the dark. He also could clip it on his hat for quick hands-free lighting.
What is next for Marque?
He is currently training for the Tulsa Ironman scheduled for May 22, 2022, with plans to return to Michigan next Fall for the 2022 Michigan Ironman 70.3. His ultimate goal is to qualify for the 2022 Ironman 70.3 World Championships held in Taupo, New Zealand.
